Choosing the right café table tops can seem a daunting task with so many different choices at hand, which is why we’ve got our heads together and put some top tips together to give you a helping hand.

Consider the size

Before even looking at materials, shapes, and colours you need to know the size of table top that you need. This is likely to depend on factors such as the type of food you serve, the type of customers your café attracts, and the space you have to play with.

As a guide, a 600mm table is designed for 2 people and while you may not want a whole host of small tables like these, they do come in handy for placing in awkward corners or small recesses, helping to maximise your floor space. 700 mm tables are designed for 2 to 4 people as are 800mm tables, although they will lend more space for plates and dishes.

Café table tops – What shape?

Most café owners tend to choose square tables for the simple fact that they can easily be pushed together to create a larger table to accommodate a group of people. Round tables look more interesting and less regimented, but really your choice depends on how much space you have. You may even want to consider having 1 or more communal dining tables as these are ideal for groups and also work well for single diners who can slot in a spare place and even make a new friend in the process ?
